    How it works

Public Service Commission rules require every regulated solid waste hauler to offer regularly scheduled monthly bulky goods collection to all households in its territory, covering appliances (including refrigerators, washers, dryers and microwaves), TVs, home computers, furniture and tires off the rim. Haulers mail the schedule yearly; ask your hauler. City-run trash services may follow their own rules.

    Cost & rules
    • For households with a PSC-regulated trash hauler; ask the hauler for the monthly bulky goods schedule.

Before you go

  1. Check whether it’s in good enough condition to donate or resell.
  2. Ask how the operator prices it (per piece, by size or by load).
  3. Remove glass tops, mirrors and loose parts if the operator asks you to.
