    How it works

The Plainfield Solid Waste & Sewer Utility collects bulky waste (furniture, mattresses, tires, kitchen appliances, air conditioners and similar items) by appointment scheduled by the property owner, first come first served. Each property gets two standard bulk disposals (collection or drop-off) per calendar year included with service; on-demand pickups are also offered. Mattresses must be wrapped in plastic. Call 908-226-2518.

    Cost & rules
    • By appointment, scheduled by the property owner.
    • Before you go: Wrap the mattress completely in plastic.

Before you go

  1. Count each piece separately: mattress, box spring and topper can be priced differently.
  2. Check for moisture, mold or bed bugs; many recyclers refuse damaged bedding.
  3. Confirm per-piece pricing and whether wrapping or an appointment is required.
