    How it works

Each year the Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment funds local scrap tire cleanup events through its Waste Reduction and Recycling Incentive grants, paid for by a $1 fee on new tires. For 2026 it funded 32 events across 36 counties, run by the counties, cities, villages and NRDs that received grants; dates, places and rules vary and questions go to each applicant (DWEE's 2026 list gives dates and locations).

    Cost & rules
    • Only in counties with a funded event that year, on the organizer's dates; rules vary by event.
