    How it works

Under Missouri's Manufacturer Responsibility and Consumer Convenience Equipment Collection and Recovery Act, a computer maker must have a DNR-approved recovery plan before selling computer equipment in Missouri. The plan lets households and home businesses recycle the maker's branded desktop and laptop computers and computer monitors (no TV tuner) at no cost, by free mail-back, a staffed collection site or a collection event. Look up the brand on DNR's Registered Computer Equipment Manufacturers List. TVs, printers and phones are not covered, and retailers do not have to collect.

    Cost & rules
    • Only computer monitors and other computer displays without a TV tuner, plus a keyboard and mouse sold with a computer, from the maker's brand. TVs, printers, phones and other electronics are not covered.
    • Find the brand on DNR's Registered Computer Equipment Manufacturers List and follow its link to the maker's program.

Before you go

  1. List each device; operators often price printers, phones and audio equipment differently.
  2. Erase phones and remove memory cards before you drop them off.
  3. Ask whether there’s a per-pound or per-item fee.
