    How it works

Under LDEQ's waste tire rules, Louisiana tire dealers must take one waste tire for every new tire sold, at the time of sale, unless the buyer keeps it. Every new tire carries an LDEQ Waste Tire Fee ($2.25 passenger/light truck, $5 medium truck, $10 off-road, $1.25 recap), charged whether or not you leave the old tire. Without a purchase, no rule requires a dealer to take tires.
