    How it works

Annual one-sweep curbside/alley collection each fall for City of Hays residential refuse customers. Items are sorted into four piles: construction debris, small tree limbs, white goods/metals (washers, dryers, refrigerators) and other bulky waste (furniture, carpet, mattresses, box springs). No tires, hazardous waste or batteries. The 2026 sweep begins October 19.

    Cost & rules
    • Once a year (2026 sweep begins October 19); one sweep with a 10-minute limit per home; sort items into piles.

Before you go

  1. Check whether it’s in good enough condition to donate or resell.
  2. Ask how the operator prices it (per piece, by size or by load).
  3. Remove glass tops, mirrors and loose parts if the operator asks you to.
